The Artists :
About the project:
Curated and performed by Naomi Columna & Melanie Emig,
What I Meant: [Dancing_Banana.GIF] is a live music, multimedia and dance performance that celebrates the common GIF’s communicative power, applying its charms to new contexts.
At times offbeat, moody, and sentimental, this performance explores the emotional range of our digital avatars, pondering their capacity for nuanced expression and encouraging a healthy dose of humor in self-reflection.
Featuring electronic and live music, a majority being new commissions, the show explores a wide range of styles and perspectives, from experimental pop, to art song and noise improv.
Uplifting a community of local artists while fostering national collaborations, featured artists include Liam Herb; electronic composer, Elephant Ornament; electronic composer, Erica MacLeod; composer, Stephan Haluska; harp, Kellen Degnan; cello, Justin Gunter; percussion, Erika Råberg; visual artist, Akane Little; dance artist, Emily Liptow; dance artist, and Sam McIntosh; choreographer/dance artist.

This project is made possible by SPACES and the Andy Warhol Foundation!
